We're glad you're here — we look forward to seeing you

Our Church is a Church that exists to bring honor and glory to the Lord Jesus Christ. First Baptist Church has been blessed by its devoted members and our dedicated Welcome Team, who will ensure that when you visit, you are given a full rundown of the Church and to help you be seated.

We're working on a video with a few words from Pastor Joshua Hawn. Until then, we invite you to contact us if you have any questions.

John 14:6 - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

First Baptist Church has a rich history of being a lighthouse in Park Rapids, MN.

FBC started in 1890 as a mission to the people of this area.

Throughout its history, FBC has emphasized the Gospel and seeing people come to know Jesus Christ as Saviour. Whether it is foreign missions, church meetings, children's ministries, revival meetings, or personal witnessing, we believe we exist to put people in contact with the message of salvation in Jesus Christ. We have also emphasized Bible preaching in our history. We currently have services throughout the week to bring people into contact with the transforming power of Scripture.

We believe the church is the Body of Christ, and that being a part of the Body means using your gifts to minister to others.

First Baptist Church seeks to follow the descriptions and commands of the Bible to how a church should function, and what goals it should have. We want to limit the effect of the world on our services and lives, and to emphasize holiness and worship. We believe that much of the negatives changes in the church at large are due to an adoption of worldly perspectives instead of a focus on what the New Testament church looked like, and we want to get back to that as much as we can.

Who is the pastor of First Baptist Church?

Currently Joshua Hawn is the pastor of First Baptist Church. His wife Amy grew up at FBC and they met in Bible college. After serving in the church in various capacities, he became the pastor in 2009.

Joshua and Amy serve in various capacities, and are happy to serve alongside, not only their church family, but with their children as well.

What should I expect if I come to services?

When you come to church, you will be warmly welcomed at the door. We will try to let you know what kinds of children's ministries we have (if you have young children) if you'd like to take advantage of them (you don't have to!). We have a time of congregational singing with conservative, God-honoring music, a free-will offering (which we don't expect you to participate in), and then the pastor will preach a message for around 40 minutes. During that message, you will hear the Gospel (See the "Salvation" tab) and there will be a time at the end of the service where you can reflect and resolve to apply what you've heard. The best way to find out about our service is to show up!
